Synopsis:

Two shipwreck survivors, the Countess Popesceau and Miss Fotherington, arrive at a seedy hotel in Tanjablanca - run by Jeanne.  They are followed soon after by Viya Con Dias, a Hollywood film star, and Chuck, her manager.  Jeanne's lover Rick, an American bootlegger, fancies the Countess, but she has her eye on Hugo De Witt, an international financier ... but so does Miss Fotherington.  Viya lets it slip that she has negatives from the Embassy and later that night they are stolen. It is discovered that Ali, the grubby little bellhop and waiter has the negatives and the Countess seduces him into giving them to her.  Hugo wants the negatives, but the Countess will not budge.  Later, when all is quiet, there is a bloodcurdling scream and Hugo is shot, strangled, and stabbed.  All of the occupants are horrified, but they do not want the police involved, so they decide to sell the body at the Casbah.  They wrap the body in bandages to disguise it and throw it out the window for Ali to collect - but the body disappears!  After a frantic search the body is found - coinciding with the arrival of the Police Chief.  After all of them are questioned about the murder, the Police Chief arrests Jeanne for it, but has he got the right person?
