I GET THE MUSIC IN YOU

Queenie van de Zandt has created a comic masterpiece with Jan van de Stool, the despotic Dutch 'music therapist' who takes her audience through an hour long therapeutic musical massage at the back of the Scout Hall after Senior Judo.

Van de Stool, who as a performer is renowned for never hitting the 'big notes' at the end of a song, tells us that music is merely 'silence with bits added', and teaches her students to cleanse their chakras (pronounced 'shake - raas' and complete with an accompanying movement), touch their sacred spot, and discover interpretive dance.

Much of the comedy comes from van de Stool's hysterical mispronunciation of words, and the droll countenance of her mute pianist (and tea lady) Helen (played by David Young).  Van de Sandt slips effortlessly into the characterizations of three students of Jan van de Stool, who aptly demonstrate the ... ah... abilities of their teacher.  Van de Sandt pulls off 'bad singing' in a way that only vocalists of extreme craft can do.

An unexpected highlight of the show is a performance by Queenie herself, who's voice strikes resonances with Barbra Streisand and Linda Eder, and lets us know just what a true talent this lady is.  She not only hits the 'big note', but she nails it.

Anyone who has ever had a singing lesson, or aspired to be a singer, will get a kick out this show.  A definite must-see!
