Synopsis:

The Miller's daughter is going to be arrested for singing until her Aunty lies that she can spin straw into gold.  When the King hears about it he sets her to work.  Alone with the spinet and pile of straw she breaks down.  A Gnome appears and offers to do it for her if she'll give him her necklace and ring, and on the condition she must never tell anybody or the gold will turn back into straw again.  The King is ecstatic and wants more, so that night the Gnome returns to her - this time asking for the girl's first child when she marries the Prince.  The girl agrees, and in the morning the King is deliriously happy.  The wedding of the girl and the Prince takes place, followed a year later by the christening of their son.  The Gnome appears, wanting the child.  The Princess protests so the Gnome agrees she can keep it if she can guess his name.  After much searching she does, but she also tells the palace that it was the Gnome who spun the straw into gold.  The King suddenly loses all his gold, and is so distraught he cries.  This causes the spell on the bees to be broken and once again they can make sweet honey.
